This Mississauga project started with a few replacement windows and later expanded into a full window and door replacement after the homeowner felt a major difference in comfort, drafts, and humidity control through the winter.
NorthShield completed a window and door replacement project in Mississauga for a home built in 1990. The homeowner originally contacted NorthShield to replace a couple of windows, then called again after winter to replace the remaining windows and doors.
After living with the first NorthShield windows through the colder season, the customer noticed a major difference compared with the older windows in the rest of the house. The upgraded units helped reduce humidity, drafts, and discomfort, which gave the homeowner confidence to continue the project.
The homeowner had purchased the house three years earlier, and the existing windows had been replaced by the previous owner roughly 15 years before. Even though they were not original to the home, they had serious performance issues.
The main concerns were drafts, humidity on the glass, and moisture around the framing. When the old windows were removed, NorthShield could see that the previous installation had not been insulated properly around the frames, which explained why so much air was moving between the window and the opening.
NorthShield recommended a brick-to-brick replacement method with high-performance triple glass windows for maximum efficiency. This allowed the installation team to remove the old units fully, address the poorly insulated openings, and rebuild the seal around each window.
During installation, the windows were sealed from the inside and outside, and spray foam insulation was applied around the frames for improved efficiency. The project eventually included all windows and doors in the home, giving the customer a complete solution for drafts, humidity, and year-round comfort.
The project was completed using a brick-to-brick installation method. Once the old windows were removed, the crew found that the previous windows had not been insulated properly around the framing, which was a major reason for the drafts and humidity problems.
NorthShield sealed the new windows on the inside and outside and used spray foam insulation around each frame to improve energy performance and comfort. The project later expanded to include the remaining windows and doors throughout the home.
After the first phase of windows was installed, the homeowner noticed a huge improvement throughout the winter. There was no humidity, no drafts, and a clear difference between the old windows and the most efficient windows installed by NorthShield.
That experience led the customer to order more windows and doors, and the full home project was completed the following year.
