Wood Window Replacement with Double Glass in Toronto

After 35 years, the wood frames on this house had stopped doing their job. Cold air came in around most of the windows, and many of the sashes were stuck shut, so rooms could not be aired out.

Because the old frames were worn out, patching them made little sense. A brick-to-brick, full-frame replacement takes the old window out down to the opening, so each new unit goes in on a clean, solid base and is sealed from scratch.

The dozen openings called for a mix of styles. Casement windows went into the bedrooms, kitchen and living room, awning windows and sliders were used where they fit the opening best, and fixed panes fill the larger areas of glass.

Inside, every opening was finished in white vinyl. It needs no painting or upkeep, so the homeowner will not be sanding and refinishing trim the way the old wood required.
