Windows and Doors Companies: All Weather Windows vs. Duraco

Review of All Weather Windows

All Weather Windows Ltd. has been in business since 1978. Its file with Better Business Bureau dates back to 1979. This makes it one of the oldest companies dealing in windows across Manitoba and its BBB file is also one of the oldest in the entire province and beyond. All Weather Windows has a score of 85% on HomeStars. It has been rated highly for its responsiveness, reputation and services. The company specializes in awning, bow, bay and casement, fixed, hung and slider and other types of windows. Homeowners can choose PVC, acrylic wrap or aluminum clad windows. The company also offers custom solutions. Many companies operating in Manitoba and across Canada are focused on any one type of material. All Weather Windows has enough variants in regards to material and styles.

all-weather-windows All windows of the company are Energy Star Rated and there are suppliers based all across the country. Not all suppliers carry out the installation and not every installer is an authorized supplier. In Manitoba and surrounding areas, the company provides the materials directly from its factory and it also has a team of experts attending to the actual installation or replacement of windows. Homeowners beyond Manitoba may want to confirm if they are dealing with the company directly or through a third party. Residents across the various cities of the province don’t have this dilemma.

Review of Duraco Windows

Duraco Window Industries Ltd. enjoys a rating of A+ on BBB. However, it has no listing on HomeStars. There are no reviews from consumers. This is a little strange since Duraco has just as old a history as All Weather. Duraco is in fact one of the oldest doors and windows companies in the province. It has a massive manufacturing unit in Winnipeg. Their sixty thousand square foot facility is one of the largest in the province. Duraco specifically deals in PVC windows. It does cater to every type and style of windows. It has more than two dozen distinct colors so homeowners can choose the exact shade they want. Duraco also makes doors, like All Weather.

duraco-windows Duraco designs and makes its windows and doors in Winnipeg. It provides lifetime warranty on all hardware and parts. They also offer limited warranty on services. All frames, glass, sashes and sealed units are covered in the warranty. However, Duraco doesn’t really mention the exact term of the warranty. The lifetime warranty could be for twenty or 25 years. Homeowners or commercial property owners should seek a clarification. Duraco windows are CSA Certified. They are also Energy Star Rated. The company offers a free site visit and non-obligatory consultation. There is a specific quote for every project depending on the needs. Duraco offers reasonable prices on doors and windows companies in Manitoba.

All Weather Windows vs. Duraco Windows

All Weather and Duraco have energy efficient windows and doors at affordable prices. The actual difference in cost would be influenced by the customization sought by a homeowner. The choice of material would be the other major component. Duraco deals with PVC. All Weather specializes in PVC and also works with aluminum clad PVC and acrylic wrap windows. All Weather and Duraco have their own designers and engineers. Both have been churning out their own designs and inventories for decades now. All Weather deals with many more materials than Duraco when it comes to doors.

Duraco does not have a score on HomeStars. This makes one wonder if the company has been failing to provide reliable service. However, given the offline credibility of the brand, one can definitely rely on its expertise. All Weather has a score and much feedback on HomeStars so it can simplify the quest of a homeowner. All Weather also attends to maintenance and preventive repairs so the range of services is more diverse.

Both All Weather and Duraco operate through a network of suppliers. While many homeowners deal with the companies directly, there are some that work with suppliers and third party installers. This paves the way for some disputes. Suppliers often don’t correspond well and third party installers are not always the best trained. There are fewer complaints against Duraco and All Weather compared to the grievances pertaining to their products and services when they are dealt with by third parties. There is not much of a difference in how the two companies go about the site visit and consultation. The quotes do vary. Duraco will have steeper quotes when homeowners go for fancier colors and All Weather will charge more for the obviously sturdier designs and materials. The two companies are known for their engineering and design. They both make energy efficient windows. The exact solution you need and the quotes of the two brands would be the decisive difference.

Alex and the team at north shield were amazing. Great customer service, along with a great team of installers. North shield replaced my 2 front living room windows in 1 day. They even took away my awning! Highly recommended

Jim gave us a great price, and I was also very happy with the installation team. Great workmanship, product, hey we’re friendly and clean. I am left feeling good about the company we chose to do our windows. I would certainly not hesitate in recommending them.

Andy and his crew installed the windows as agreed and were extremely pleasant. The cleanup was exceptional. They arrived on time. I would recommend North Shield to anyone looking for new windows. The service was incredible, The pricing was very good. The sales person Jim Scammel was very informative and knowledgeable. We had quotes from five (5) companies and feel good with our decision. The overall product was exceptional, but Andy was the STAR!!!! We did 17 windows and a door, so this was an important decision to our family.

We love our new windows. It was a challenging job for the guys as we are on the second floor of a condo but they were very professional and up to the task. Windows look great inside and out.

We had our windows installed last summer and absolutely love them - especially the large kitchen window. Our sales rep Jim S. was terrific and knowledgeable. The installers did a professional, skilled job of installing our windows. And the windows themselves are high quality, easy to open and easy to clean - as well as reasonably priced. We are very happy with our entire experience with this company and highly recommend them. Thank you!
