Project Overview
The main goal of this home upgrade was to replace old, failing materials with heavy-duty, sound-blocking, and energy-efficient barriers. Because this house sits right next to a busy main road, the living spaces were constantly filled with loud traffic noise.
Our technical team performed a complete brick-to-brick installation. By removing every single outdated frame right down to the bare brick, we successfully integrated highly secure vinyl window replacements and strong fiberglass doors. This custom setup was specifically designed to drastically cut down on street noise while making the entire outside of the home much safer and more secure.
Existing Window & Door Vulnerabilities
Living next to a busy suburban road exposed this home to major noise and security issues. The property’s original, builder-grade windows and doors were worn out, leaving the house poorly protected.
The homeowners needed an urgent, full-scale replacement for two main reasons:
- Intrusive Street Noise: The old double-pane glass did almost nothing to block sound. Sound waves easily travel through uninsulated frames, turning passing traffic and city vehicles into constant background noise in the bedrooms.
- Security Vulnerabilities: The rear patio door and standard front door only had basic, single-point locks. Combined with standard, unreinforced glass, these aging locks created a real security risk for a family home on a highly visible street.
To permanently solve these problems, the owners skipped temporary fixes and chose a premium, custom window and door replacement in Toronto to build a strong, reliable barrier against both noise and break-ins.
Our Solution
NorthShield carried out a clean, masonry-to-masonry brick-to-brick installation. This allowed our crew to strip away the original uninsulated cavities and build an advanced, modern acoustic barrier.
The customized, high-security structural configuration featured:
- Triple Glass Insulation: We upgraded every window unit to a heavy-duty triple glass configuration. This design was chosen primarily to optimize structural soundproofing against the direct echoes of the nearby transit roadway.
- Integrated Miniblinds: For the rear entrance, we installed a premium sliding patio door complete with low-maintenance internal miniblinds and custom, multi-tiered structural locks to maximize home defense.
- Fiberglass Entry System: At the front, we replaced the aging entryway with a contemporary fiberglass exterior door system featuring reinforced security glass sidelights and a multi-point locking mechanism to provide premium property protection.
Installation Process
Our professional team performed a careful brick-to-brick removal, stripping all the old frames right down to the bare brick. With the openings completely cleared, our technicians cleaned out the debris, added high-grade insulation, and perfectly sealed the gaps to block out drafts and street vibrations.
The outside edges were finished with commercial-grade sealant against the brick face, creating a weather-tight barrier that performs just as well as our premium, high-security exterior doors.
