Red Steel Entry Door Replacement in Brampton

This Brampton home still had the doors the builder put in, each with only a tiny pane of glass. The homeowner wanted ENERGY STAR efficiency, strong security and a lot more natural light in the entry.

NorthShield replaced both doors with red steel door systems that carry a three-quarter decorative glass insert. We used a full framing installation with new framing and new casing, and the whole job took half a day.

Builder-Grade Doors With Almost No Glass

The original doors did their job, but the glass in them was tiny. Very little daylight reached the entry, and the doors didn’t offer the efficiency or security the owner was looking for.

The brief was clear: an energy-efficient door system that felt solid, with much more glass, and a door that people notice from the street. That’s why we chose a steel door system with a three-quarter glass unit.

Red on the Outside, White Inside

The owner wanted the front door to become the focal point of the house, so the exterior is finished in red. Against the brick it stands out without clashing.

Inside, the doors are white to match the trim, with black hardware. The decorative glass lets light through while the textured panes keep the hallway private. You can compare insert styles on our door glass options page.

Full Framing Replacement in Half a Day

We didn’t fit the new doors into the old frames. The old framing came out, and each opening got new framing, a new door system and new casing, so everything around the doors is brand new.

Both doors were finished in half a day. If you’re weighing materials for your own entry, our guide on how to choose an entry door walks through the main choices.

More Daylight and a Stronger Entry

The house now has two ENERGY STAR steel entry doors with three-quarter glass, a red exterior that draws the eye, and new framing and casing at both openings. The entry is brighter, more secure and more energy efficient than it was with the builder’s doors.
